Industrial Bathroom Design

By Andie

Although there are many rooms in the home that certainly deserve to be decorated properly, the bathroom is one that is often overlooked. Even though it is not a room in the home that is often in the public eye, it is the room that greets the homeowner first thing in the morning and it is where they prepare themselves for another day. It is also home to a captive audience, so failing to decorate appropriately can leave the occupant inspecting the room. One of the options for bathroom design that can really make a difference in the quality and appeal of this out-of-the-way room is going with an industrial bathroom decor.

The bathroom tends to be a part of the home that brings many different elements together. Some people might even call it eclectic, but others refer to it as just being its own type of design. Industrial elements can certainly add some benefit to the bathroom, including a sterilized look and plenty of bright, quality lighting. Either of those elements is a welcome addition to this room. When an industrial bathroom decor is desired, the following options can help to pull everything together perfectly.

First of all, it’s important to consider the different elements that are associated with an industrial decor. Rather than being just one type of material, there are a variety of materials that often work in unison with each other when an industrial appeal is desired.

Stainless steel is one of the options, and it is a choice that can work quite well in a bathroom environment. It is somewhat cold and sterilized, which is important for obvious reasons. In addition to this element, glass is also a very important part of the industrial design and it works quite well in the bathroom. In fact, it is a combination of glass and stainless steel that can really make the bathroom a welcome environment for the morning routine. Reclaimed woods are also a part of this design choice and they can make an excellent border or wallcovering.

One of the areas in which an industrial look is often seen in the bathroom is in the fixtures. This is especially true of the light fixtures, and it is important to have the right type of light in the bathroom for the various reasons why it is being used. In the mornings, a brighter, more natural light is desired when the family is preparing for the day. When the bathroom is visited in the middle of the night, however, more of a subdued lighting is desired. Industrial lighting provides both of those options.

Of course, industrial decor can be pulled into almost all parts of the bathroom, from the faucet to the toilet paper holder. In fact, there are so many options, it can be difficult to choose the ones that are the best for everyone involved. Regardless of whether it is the main design theme of the bathroom or if it is just brought into the room through various elements, it is something that provides both appeal and beauty to an area of the home that is visited every day.
